apple unveils new product for the new generation

Apple unveiled a watch, two larger iPhones and a mobile payments service on Tuesday as Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook seeks to revive the technology company's reputation as a wellspring of innovation. The first new product to be developed and introduced under Cook's reign is a timepiece tethered to the iPhone that will combine health and fitness tracking with communications. It will price at $349 and go on sale in early 2015.

Also unveiled were the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, in a large boost to the screen size of the popular handsets. Apple's main rival Samsung has long had a range of larger handsets and has tried to market a smartwatch of its own.

Described as the company's "most personal device ever," the Apple Watch will pair with iPhones and allow users to view messages and apps on the wrist. The device will use a "digital crown" to scroll, zoom and navigate without obstructing the display. The side-mounted crown also serves as the home button and a way to access the Siri personal assistant. The watch will be available in "early 2015" in two sizes and three collections, starting at $349.
